Nick,
Do you own the ground or is it council land? Has anyone looked at your mower and said why the belts are braking? Have you tried the award for all funds at the council? If you are providing a service for local youngsters, they should look favourably on you. Hillingdon council paid for us to get a secondhand wheelhorse a couple of seasons ago, £2000.
Do you play on the Cowley Road rec opposite the Tesco's petrol station?
Vic.
Hi Nick.. i have just private messaged you...

Hi Nick,
like you i also help out a football club well i say help out i m joint manager, kit man, groundsman and player. i have the same problem as you but in our small small village we have one football team and this season has been a struggle as we are new to running it etc. i managed to get a sponsor who paid for our brand new kit, i had badge made up and website (needs updating though), i also started putting results and fixtures in a monthly newsletter booklet and stated we were looking for donations etc. in this we have recieved £300 extra this yr from this. i then decided to go to parish council meeting and recreation committee meetings to see if i could get more money for the club. having us rent the pitch off the council put us in a very good position and they agreed to let us off £90 a yr rent, pay for line marking powder, top soil and grass seed for end of season (up to a limit), and pay for the petrol we use to cut the pitch. i didnt have mower at all and was using a self propelled 19" mower to cut it during the start of the season then i found a old ride on mower on ebay that was local and snapped it up for £200 and works a treat. i also got in contact with council bout having them come round and mark pitch out during the winter when our transfer wheel doesnt work due to being to boggy and they agreed to do this for free. i then contacted local sports clubs to see if they would lend me equipment to which a local golf club said i could use there drag matts, chain harrows when ever i needed providing they werent using them.
so goes to show if you can get the word around and inform people i think many will donate a small amount. i d ask local businesses for help and offer then some sort of sponsorship. feel free to pm me if you would like more info

Hi Nick,
I work at Uxbridge Cricket Club and as aintgottaclue says above, I thought you played down the Cowley Road and Mike Ash, who works at our place, was involved in the senior side.
If I had a vehicle to transport the wheelhorse, would maybe look you up but wonder why you are having to cut the pitch when it is a council facility? Are Connaught doing the council contract in your area?
Really do think you should chase the local council about awards for all grants and will try to find a couple more leads for you.
Good luck.
Vic.
