Message Board - Natural Turf: Granular pesticide application

17 Mar 2010 by Martin Wythe

Could someone clarify what certificates are required to apply granular pesticides, specifically Merit turf.

I believe PA1 & PA6.
PA6 is for handheld applicators - which include knapsacks and granular applicators.

Of course there's no bounce, bend your back and put some bloody effort in.

PA4 if using a mounted or trailed applicator

PA4 for all granular application and you must have PA1 to handle all chemicals,

Donk, not true. PA4 is as Martin said for using mounted or trailed applicators - this doesn't include had applicators such as a pedestrian broadcast spreader. PA6 is supposed to cover pedestrian broadcast spreaders (according to my PA6 notes) but I honestly don't remember them ever being mentioned on the course at all.

Of course there's no bounce, bend your back and put some bloody effort in.

Donk purports to give serious advice on a serious subject and then discredits himself by taking the pi$$.

rules and regs come about because of malpractice and misuse etc etc...and you cant keep laughing when because of these numpties who flout rules and regs, we the genuine ones, have to fork out an arm and a leg on insurances, training because the client requires credentials etc

yep lots of money to the tune of something like 18 thousand pounds a year spent on training and insurance for 8 blokes. I know all about it you dont need to worry, thats why i keep laughing coz otherwise I would cry !!!!! Its good to train and improve thats what its all about trying to be better at what we do, give a better service, and in the mean time we can all be happy and have a laugh, enjoy ourselves !!!!!
