Message Board - Football: Ridiculous amount of games???

tivi.jpg 29 Mar 2010 by chucky

This is a new one on me folks and was wondering if anyone can beat it.

I've had my fixtures come through today for the games coming up in April. As of yet, out of the 30 days in April there are 27 games minimum!!!

Can anyone top that???!!!

No wonder I'm Mr Grumpy!

Two in April......!

I'd take a holiday as you won't have any time to do any work , you may want to avert your eyes. Because no pitch can take that amount of usage. Good Luck.

Can you just is the longest sentence in the world !!!!!!!

It gets better/worse. From the 1st to the 9th of May there has been 7 games arranged. Therefore out of 39 days there are 34 games expected. Wish me luck!!!!!

Tonight's game would've been game number 92 but it was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Amazingly there is still grasscover all over the pitch and thankfully it's starting to grow at long last which is helping. I've got 10 bags of fert in the shed to get on but finding the opportunity is going to be the problem!!

Ticky, the most I've had as far as I know is 3 in one day. There have been 4 in 2 days for a few weeks of late.

It's gotten so bad that at first I used to try to work from a monthly list. Then a weekly one. Now things change almost daily!!!

I've been looking at your website, chucky. Who are all these games for?

Aladdin it's been mad. There have been at least 8 different teams used it this season. We did have six complete weeks without a game whatsoever so obviously they were needed to be rearranged. The problem that I see is that most of us at the club run from a diary. The problems arise when someone puts something in there and forgets to tell someone that they have done so.

I told the powers that be earlier this week that they really need to be careful what they're doing as regards filling the 5 blank spaces for April in case of further postponements. Hopefully they have as we've lost all the games this week. One was planned every day up to today.

Anyone reading this please, please get the communication channels open and running as smoothly as you possibly can!!!

I don't envy you, chucky. At this rate it'll be next season before you've finished this one!!

One point, however. Looking from here, is it not the case that if someone puts something in said diary then they've fulfilled their obligations? Isn't then the responsibility of others to check this diary?

8 teams though!!

Point taken. But I am not in a position to go to the club everyday. I have had in the past a text to say that there is a game the next day!!! Very little I can do about it at that short notice sometimes.

Apparently it's only me moaning about the pitch. Everyone else thinks it's fine. Apparently there are worse ones out there. It really is struggling at the moment with the amount of rain that we're having down here. We lost another game last night. That's four in four days lost. As I write this it's hammering down here again and with very little wind forecast, tomorrows' game will be in doubt.

28 games scheduled for April, although tonights is off after playing last night in all that rain, inspection by the powers that be tonight to see if tomorrows game can be played.

52 between March 5th and May 9th, I'm saying nothing, in public anyway :)

I'm starting to get rather annoyed!

Everyone knows we've had a proper winter for a change but this seems to be on a par with Clubs giving the pitches the lowest of priorities!!

For God's sake, what's a football club without a football pitch??!!

There was a comment on our League website recently which highlighted the lack of knowledge of those in charge.

I despair!!
