we are looking to errect advertising around football pitch. the cost is £30 for the sign and then £20 per season. i have had allot of interest locally and have sold over 120 signs in 2 weeks. this will generate £2400 per year. which after years of working with nothing at least gives me a budget for ground maintainance. we are a small club run by volanteers. thought i would post this so other small clubs could use the idea. if you make it cheap enough you will be surprised by the response. thanks andy

Ticky supports British farmers...!!
how big are your boards you are allowing......we normally go for 8ft by 4ft....any smaller and they cant be seen very well.and most of the clubs i deal with charge £250 per season...inclusive of getting the sign made up ..

boards are 4ft by 2ft most sheet material to make them is 8 x 4 so we get 4 signs from each sheet. one of players in club dose signs for vans so can produce at cost. plastic for signs from Robert Horne and exterior ply from jewsons. signs work out about £25 to produce and mount. i have a sign made up which i take around businesess. they seem happy with size, some have bought 4 signs. if we can fill the ground even at £20 pound per season you are looking at allot of money for a small club. thanks andy

this is a brilliant idea but the cambs fa i think wouldnt allow us to do it and it being a council pitch we wouldnt be allowed anyway. shame as i think local businesses would of loved this and generate some much needed income for the team.
any more fund raising ideas ???

Our club are looking to erect barriers to keep spectators off pitch and allow this sort of advertising. What are you guys using for the barriers ? We looking for a cheap vandal proof solution.

We have been selling ad boards at our soccer club for 3 or 4 years now and one of the ways we found to make it easier to sell the advertising is that many of companies that advertise are also our suppliers (football gear, sand, oil machinery mantainance etc.) and instead of giving us money ever year they give us a cr. note for the amount. That way their contribution is not as painfull for them and we are still getting our money.
This is just another angle and might be helpfull to some Clubs.

We had around around 15 sponsor boards attached to our boundary fence.
Lasted approx 4-5 weeks before they were painted on, kicked to pieces.
We rented the signs per season for £50 each, needless to say the sponsors didnt want to bother to replace the signs.
We tried to just put them out on match days, but as soon as they were left out, the captains responsiblity was to bring them in, hey ho the playes couldnt even be arsed to do that!!
We now have a 3mx3m main road board which brings in £60quid a week

We do boards are our club now, we get ply which is 2.4m x 1.2m x 12mm thick £25 from wickes then get a banner made up for £50.
We staple or velco the banner on to the ply, charge £100 then £50 per year, if they don't renew just take the banner off and leave the board up.

We have our boards made by: http://www.universalprinting.co.uk/
They are made of diebond metal/plastic and are pretty much indestructable and can be coated with anti-graffiti coating as well.
Surprisingly not too expensive, highly recommended.
There are a few photos on our website: http://www.clubwebsite.co.uk/belvederefc/photo_gallery.pl?album=33205
They also supply Gillingham FC as well.
