Surrey groundsmans association in conjunction with the area ECB pitch inspector, held a PQS clinic on my ground weds, interesting and informative.
They used my square as the guinea pig for form filling and it came out ok. But I need a soil sampler and tried to order the BMS one but BMS are out of stock. BMS seem hopeless, recently took them nearly 3 months to deliver something they said would be 2 weeks.
Anyway. looked on the Pitchcare site for a similar tool and was wondering if anyone has got or has used the Crocodile one they have on there for £119? It looks well made and is 2 inch which I think you need.

I use a bolster chisel and a lump hammer and have a look at the R/Z half way down and between the pitches!
Works for me and is much cheaper!!

You can get a 4 inch sampler from NZSTI website. $60 NZD. About 30 quid. Better than rip off Britain...

But saying that, I did just pay $10NZD for a box of Kellogs Just Right from Countdown supermarket. About 5 quid. Swings and roundabouts...

Get one. Just use a rubber mallett when banging into block. Otherwise you will bur the end. 4 inch depth.

Is it like the bms one commonly used over here in the uk

I checked out the site, there is no picture of what it looks like.Plus the cost of shipping and entry tax would make it more than the BMS one probably.

$90 NZD including delivery at a guess, maybe less. That's about 45 quid...

Whoever you get it from make sure it is made of material that does not oxidise readily or the samples will not read true. ie cast iron will leave iron in the sample
