Message Board - Cricket: Score boxes (Flip Overs) Urgent
11 Aug 2010 by Chris Thornton
The box in the picture has gone on the blink.
The mechanism isn't working properly, probably as a consequence of heavy use by the lads using them.
I can't fathom what's wrong.
Does anyone know who would supply them. They measure 11 1/2 by 14 1/2 inches.
Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris
We had a load rennovated and serviced by Sportsmark before my time here. Don't know if they still do the service or not but could be much cheaper than a new unit. I know you can get the individual plates and the stainless steel clip that sits inside at the top seperately.
Here is a link to their web page though there are a number of other suppliers 'Stadia Sports' for instance.

Done that. Do it each winter.
I have taken the number plates out this aft' and nothing is apparent so tomorrow I am going to compare it with a good un.
They are £150 new so must give it a go. eh!
Many thanks Chris

We had a mysterious number box which magically fixed itself. One day a number was broken in half. Next week when I took it down, to fix it, and magically the number was in one piece - no one will own up to fixing the thing.
Of course there's no bounce, bend your back and put some bloody effort in.

We 'inherited' a couple of spare boxes last year, if you're desperate then we could maybe help you out !
Let me know

Hi,
Our score hut used to be used by the 'toe ballers' to store nets and things in during the winter. Come the following cricket season many of the flip over units weren't working - due to said toe ballers absentmindedly pulling the strings. Since the protective covers were still bolted to the front of the score box the flip over numbers had nowhere to flip and consequently popped out or the little tabs on the side broke off. Simple to pop them back in place but doesn't do the mechanism any good.
You might find the bottom half of your '1' in the bottom of the unit in which case you can hopefully refit it. If missing then i'd suggest painting on the blank below (seen in your picture) - carefully remove it and use masking tape for a neat job otherwise it'll look like the credits on scooby do.
Cheers

Chris,
I have the contact for the only company that makes the mechanical scorers. It doesnt matter where you go on the internet , they all buy from this manufacturer. Drop me a line on 07814706279 and I can help you out. Cant give details out on here as they would revoke my contractors account.
I know its not straight! I've been drinking again.

Will do Greavesie.
Mechanic (member) had a look at it yesterday and will fix it in a fortnight, when back from hol's. The nut that turns the spindle has "rounded" inside so needs tack welding but some spare parts would be handy! Cheers
Chris
