Message Board - Machinery: Towing a Jacobson t plex

Alright troops !
I have a broken down Jacobsen T plex some kind of electrical fault that I can't fix just now. It is currently stuck on my nursery ground outfield, under tarpaulins. I have been trying to locate some kind of release valve so I can tow it back to the shed with out damaging it as hydrostatic drive has no neutral and I don't want to destroy the hydrolicics, and being the Frank Spencer of machines that's what is going to happen. Any help would be greatly appreciated!.

mwoods link is good for the UL & US model types.

From the manual I have for the ZX model:

PUSHING THE MACHINE WITH THE ENGINE
STOPPED
The free wheel control is provided to allow the
machine to be moved when the engine is stationary.
Rotate the contrl valve handwheel (A Fig.19) one full
turn. Ensure the valve is fully closed before starting
the engine.
(The valve is located just forward of the engine, about level with the coolant overflow bottle).
DO NOT exceed the following speeds and distance
when moving the machine in 'Free Wheel'.
Maximum Speed: 1.5 Km/Hr (1 mph)
Maximum Distance: 2Km (1 1/4 miles)
DO NOT allow the machine to free wheel down slopes
even when unloading down ramps.

Why do you not have (or have not yet read) your Operators Manual?

Thanks guys, Sumomosr, you are right I should have tried to find an operators manual, I didn't get one with it but yes I should have searched online and now feel slightly sheepish.

Mario that is exactly the part I thought it was, I just gave up too easily yesterday in the rain because when I turned it and tried to push by hand it felt the same

but at least now I can get it back to the shed before yobs set fire to it !

so again many thanks guys
