Went along to the show yesterday as it's only 20 minutes from us. Only saw one guy I knew, the legend that is Bob Carder. Loads there although much of it was of little interest to me, playground and huge machinery. Good time talking with Dennis, Limagrain, Avoncrop, Bob Scott, the Sheriff meat pies went down a treat but Helen had no jobs to offer. Down side no money to spend and 2 heavy downpours, fields getting boggy already. Take your boots if going Weds or Thurs and just inside is a bloke selling Aussie style hats, made a fortune yesterday and could well have doubled his price today but I already have mine. Enjoy the show.

I'm hoping to get along either today or tomorrow but rather than get depressed Barry I often take inspiration. Some time ago I used to work for a school that could barely rub to pennies together so would often make up some tools & implements (Not quite to the standard of Arthur scarifying machine in 'Arthur's Hallowed Ground' but non the less) inspired by what I sometimes saw . Of course it's good for compiling wish lists............... and if you missed Reading or mud filled concerts then From what you are saying vic this could be an earthy groundsmans alternative. Wellies in the boot along with a rain mac

Forgot to mention this morning, my visit to Stuart Canvas, Tony showed me how to modernise my new roro covers with the aid of a claw hammer.

Tony showed me how to modernise my new roro covers with the aid of a claw hammer.
Must have been a minor alteration then as opposed to a major one with a sledge hammer?

Nothing there for me to justify going, but did hear numbers were low yesterday?

Heard numbers were very low again today.

Numbers seemed a lot better today yesterday was pretty poor though

Not sure which numbers you mean regaltang, when I was at Saltex yesterday there was more tumbleweed in the aisles than punters. Yes the badges will have been zapped as folk go in and out as usual, but a chill wind of change could be detected amongst the IoG and BIGGA bods that we saw at the show with only one potential outcome- one unified national show in a central location with major input from Pitchcare. It would be interesting to see how many of this year's exhibitors have rebooked for 2011 following this year's show....

Today was again pretty poor however so one day out of 3 is not a good show

Would be interesting to see how many of this years visitors would bother going that central show.

It wouldn't matter to me whether it was a central show or not - what matters is WHEN it is. If it's in Sept then I can't go regardless of whether it's the only show or not.
ADDED:
I dare say that choosing a time of year will be the most difficult choice of anyone trying to organise a new show.
Of course there's no bounce, bend your back and put some bloody effort in.

I feel many will shun a new show wherever/whenever if it is not an outdoor event.
There is probably not a time in the calander to suit everyone.
