Message Board - Football: buying a new tractor.
2 Nov 2010 by david cooper
we are a boys & girls club , and in the market for some new equipment . the only problem is we are unsure what we need,we have one pitch and a training area .the groundsman would like a john deere tractor so he could do some slitting etc as well as maintaining the grass any suggestions please.

The best idea is to write down what it is you want the tractor to do, slitting, harrowing, mowing, etc, from that you should be able to get some idea what size and lift capacity your tractor will be require. Tractor makes at this point aren't to important but we all have our preferences. Hope this has helped
It's a lot less bother with a hover!

And what is your budget for spending, maintenance, etc?
Are you paying cash or financing by lease etc?

we have had contractors in the past to sandslit ,vertidrain,re-seed just about everything but its to expensive so we would like something that would carry out quite big jobs.our budget is probably about £15,000.00.

Is that for the tractor alone or for the tractor and all the implements to replace your reliance on contractors and their machinery?

Phone Campeys. They may be able to make up a package for you. Money will be tight I fear.
