November turf laid for bowling green.

Our (crown green ) bowling green is being extended from 35 x 35 yds to 35 x 43 and will be completed within seven days.. obviously to adjust the crown at least a third of the old green will be lifted and resited as well as the extension area.
My question is... We do realise it is quite late for this green to be playable by April 2004 .... so is there a way to encourage growth during the winter.. ? Would for example covering the disturbed and new area with clear polythene or equivalent help to improve temperature and therefore encourage growth. If this is recommended then please advise gap height betwen polythene and grass.... Or can you recommend a much better idea... The green is situated west of Chester. Many thanks, Ken Parry.
