Hi Guys,Could do with some advice and direction please.
Christmas seems to have come early and we are fortunate enough to have some money to spend!! We applied to a local trust who generously gave us the full amount we asked for.Ideally we are looking to replace the roller, get a triple mower, pitch mower and square mower, all needs to be second hand by the way.never had this choice before.just wondered if you could give us a starting point really.Regarding the roller this would take up a fair amount of the money, would you go for a used poweroll, auto roll etc or get a used road roller slightly cheaper, which would leave a little more for the rest of the gear!!.Probably wont be in this situation again either,so which way to turn! Which type of cricket roller do you guys use?? Suppose if we can find a dealer who can supply all the mowers we will get a better deal.Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hi Nifty
If your club has Clubmark, why not try and get a small grant ( up to 10K) from Sport for England? Thats what I did and got the full 10k and we got a Poweroll 15 and only had to put 700 quid towards it. Then you could use more of the money on your mowers. The Poweroll has the advantage of 3 water ballast tanks plus the rollers can be ballasted as well. It is easy to put water in and let it out and this means you can have it failry light to begin with for PSR and then build the weight up as the season progresses.
I would go for a purpose built roller such as this myself.

You get some decent deals on here for mowers.

What do I do? I just cut the grass.

I agree with Barry i wouldnt go with a road roller as they are expensive to repair better to speak to Poweroll about a 2nd hand reconditioned machine. They do give you more flexablilty with weight this will take a bit of experimenting on your ground but it does allow you to PSR and rolling throughout the season with the same machine. Then focus on a good wicket mower you may be able to buy new if you look at protea. Ian

Can you just is the longest sentence in the world !!!!!!!

Dont know what your budget is but there are some decent mowers both triples and pitch mowers on sale here currently. Ive bought a couple of things off here and not been disappointed. No one selling on here would want to get a bad reputation.

In that case Nifty, why not have a go at the grant? i dont mind helping out with the online application.
You could then end up with the full 15k for the other gear. there is a good looking Super Certes on here for £1700 currently

Anyway, yes you are lucky mate!

No mate for a decent purpose built cricket roller, that is it IMO. Poweroll do various models, depends what you want. You will need a pucker quote if you do go down the grant route
