Now i know before i start this people will say why wasnt it stored warmer etc but we dont have anywhere else to store this or our equipment apart from metal container.
right back to the question i went to mark out village football pitch last week and line marker was frozen inside and managed to clear the ice on the inside and thaw out the pipe work from the front but still not working i m guessing actual pipework in the machine near battery and pump has frozen to and was wondering what i can do about this to 1. fix it so it works again and 2. procedures to try and cut this out or try and prevent it from freezing up to bad???
also do people at grass roots ever cover certain areas of their pitch to try and keep games on over this bad weather if so what do you use???
many thanks

Hi David.
Re-your Kombi. If it has to be stored in a container try and make an insulated box,(I know it will be a big one) to stop it freezing.
Re-grassroots football pitches. I have never tried to cover areas (I suppose you mean goalmouths) for the simple reason if the temperature is low enough to freeze goal areas it must be the same for the whole pitch, if that makes sense!!

Hi david
Re-kombi. Totally agree with above comments try and keep it in insulated container. Try putting some warm water in the reserve tank and try flushing it through. I have some spare pipe if you need and pipes replacing im in cambridgeshire and i dont think you are that far away from me.
Obv being in a container with current temperatures you will come across this problem if not kept properley.
As for covering areas of the pitch i have never covered any of my areas, the only time i used to cover is where its shadey as direct sun light on a frosty morning will not thaw out these areas.
If i can be of any help david do not hesitate to contact me through pm
Kind regards
Rob Bradshaw
hmmm looks like i might need to get my diy skills together and build a box lol
thanks Rob and Bob for the advice and i ll jot down your number and i m bound to need some advice at some point lol. Reserve tank is the one where just water goes correct ?? sorry bit new to the kombi lol
Rob i remember you used to be at st noets fc now working for another company and i m from near haverhill lol
Hi david
Yes the reserve is at the back and its where you put clean water.
I did used to be at st neots town but my mum had a stroke and I left through my family reasons. This was just a private hobby david to be honest I took everything into account and wanted to spend time with my family also I had a little girl so it took most of my time away.
The. Spare time I had I done courses and bettered myself in my full time employment.
I'm now assistant groundsman at One-Leisure in St Ives.
52 acre site which has a full athletics arena and 400m rubber track, 8 full size football pitches, 4 mini soccer pitchs, full size astro surface, full size 3G to be installed within next 6months, rugby league pitch, 4 tennis courts and 2 cricket squares consisting of 24 wickets.
Hi Rob,
very sorry to hear bout your mum and hope everything is ok now and sometimes there are more important things than work and fair play for you doing what was right for you.
Well i m glad your happy in work and have bettered yourself and thanks for the advice and hope i can get it defrosted and working again regarding kombi line marker lol but as the club is at the moment it may be sold end of season as club is struggling but its only a village side and not many care about it if i m honest but thats life i cant do everything myself even though i m trying
Re frozen Kombi.....run some anti freeze thru the water tank and also in the mix tank...i do this and have never had a prob with it freezing...before you use it to mark out...just run the mix into a container to keep the anti freeze mix, then re-use it after..
Ticky supports British farmers...!!
Why not wrap the Kombi in a couple of blankets when not using ?
David you asked about covering goalmouths during frost. Well last season we had a game called off by a referee because of a small amount of frost on a goalmouth and ever since that when frost was forecast I put a tarp cover approx 8yds by 5yds on each goalmouth and never after that was a game cancelled and on one particular Sunday our pitch was the only fixture that went ahead in the region.
Goalmouths seem to be more frosted than the rest of pitch mainly because in most cases it has less grass cover and also refs seem to protect keepeers more than outfield players.
hey guys thanks for the advice been down there this morning with hot water to defrost it and then clear it out and as it goes the nozzle etc is working for the water but paint wise not good but think it just needs hot water in it for a while to defrost the pipe work i m hoping but thanks none the less
