Frost damage

it seems too many times our club uses tempory greens because of frost. Can you tell me please at what stage does walking on frosted greens do the damage?

frost

When you walk on frosted grass, you damage the crystalised plant cells, causing severe bruising.

In the winter the plant has little chance of recovery because it isn't warm enough for re-growth and regeneration, thus leading to the further detriment of the plant.

A golf green, where so many of the grasses are fine leaved, may die back as a consequence.

Typical golfer

Hilly you should be ashamed of yourself. Of course frost damages the fine grasses on your greens. Do you really enjoy playing golf during a frost? How the hell can you putt on a frosted green? You just have to accept that sometimes you shouldn't be playing.

frost

not only does it make the grass go black but may encourage attacks by fusarium patch disease.

hilly 14 it`s about time you start to listen to your greenkeepers advice.too many golfers don`t listen and think they know best and question the greenkeeper instead of letting him do what he does best
