Hi David
Hope your pitch marker is working now? I did offer to come and help you but got no answer back, I can only assume you fixed yourself.

Weather has been bad leading upto the festive period and beyond, Snow showers and now rain is causing problems over many local authority pitchs through East Anglia region.

I at St Ives recorded just over a inch rain in the last 14 days. We where very lucky though as we areated our 52 acre site prior to the festive period before the snow and we managed to do it again before the new year.

When you have played football over the weekend david replacing divots the next day is a good thing. Keeping the levels of the playing surface is very important.
The maintenance side monitor the surface because you dont really want to be taking heavy machinery on it if your only going to create more of a mess.

When we arrive at work after the weekend we allways access our pitchs for damage. If the ground is suitable we either get the quadrapla on it or take the maxi-slit out. Yes both machines have a very small roller but the importance of the opperation is that your getting air into the ground.

Hope i make sense David im sure somebody will comment if im wrong.

Hi Rob,

Well i we did send some private messages regarding line marker and the last one was you saying you would get back to me when you had the time to come over....so in the end i have got fleet to take it in as they sent out a machine as replacement while mines being fixed.

The divots i try and replace and do the major ones first then the next ones down as i just dont have the time with work etc to do the whole pitch and no one helps which is always the way with our club and many others i guess.

that sounds like just the thing and unfortunatly something we can not do or afford to have someone come in and do so may have to try and find old chain harrow and use that to at least help the pitch through the stress of the weather and the first game for a while.

anything else people could advise then please do
