Message Board - Machinery: More Thefts in Shropshire

20 Jan 2011 by Minormorris64

I received this last night from our Club Secretary, off a club between Shrewsbury & Telford who play in the ECB Shropshire Premier League

Dear All,

During the last week we have had some most unwelcome visitors.

They have managed to remove the security locks from the old factory site gates and help themselves to our outfield gang mowers and our heavy outfield grass roller.

They must have known what they were coming for as these items weigh in execess of two to three tonnes and in both cases are over two meters in length and width. They have even gone to the trouble of taking the two addtional gangs we had taken off for maintenance.

Could you please inform all clubs to make them aware and ask them to report any one that may offer items such as these for sale or at least ask them the source where they came from.

I believe a similar incident has occured in Cannock recently. It appears that cricket clubs in Winter are easy targets

It might be worth reminding clubs that it is worth making sure that all their own equipment is as secure as possible and fully documented. We thought ours was!!!, ie.Serial numbers, Pictures etc, etc

This is going to make pre-season very difficult fo us now as we are going to have to replace these items as they are key pieces of kit for us. Especially in view of the fact that we are trying to prepare a new third team pitch for use this year and extend our outfield on the first team pitch

I suspect Cricket force 2011 for us will be all about fundraising now. Not just about replacing the kit but how do we fully secure what we have left.

Regards
