has anyone had any experience of using the koro scarifier on golf greens which are fairly undulated? and is so how did it perform? am thinking of using it instead of the graden

HI Matt
I have not use the machine in question but have heard really good reports on it. but Like you I would go for the graden, if your greens are undulated. As the above machine is rather wide. Hope this is of help BV

For your info the Koro Topmaker ,when used on golf greens is fitted with either 1.5mm or 3 mm tungsten tipped blades, and a mid roller is fitted thus halving its wheelbase, it also has a floating top link position and is 1.2m working width.
Most important it removes the material either into a collector or up the elevator so surface hygiene is good

Don't know how undulating your greens are but I cannot recommend this process highly enough. We have done this for the last four years and the results have been very good. The Graden is a good machine but it is a pain to clean up after it. The Koro can either collect or run the debris into a vehicle via a side elevator. We just give the greens a blow and a cut, back in play straight after. 20 greens in one day.
The answer is None more black.

Matt,
I have lovely big undulations on my mackenzie greens that didnt take to well to the koro last year, superb bit of kit and on the flatish greens it did an incredable job, far superior to the graden for all the reasons others have stated in posts before. However would i use it again? nope, too much intolerance to the slopes im afraid on the majority of my greens even with floating top link position. Really comes down to just how undulating your greens are? But for me with my undulations i will be forever consigned to coring and small scarifyers!

Peter,
I can only assume that the machine which you used did not have the mid roller fitted, it was probably set up for flat areas when the mid roller is not required.
On this years Koro models with collector bokes there is now a small pivoting roller oneither side of the machine exactley in line with the centre of the scarification shaft, so no fear of marking on undulations anymore.
