Andy

Top Dressing is usually an end of season affair to address levels.

What is vital in Rugby pitches is divoting, i.e. using a rootzone (similar to top dressing but moist) often mixed with grass seed into areas damaged by scrummaging, lineouts etc.

John buddington does a month by month rugby diary on Pitchcare which is also very helpful

Good Luck!

top dressing

Little and often into your worn/damaged and low areas and as loamy says.
Try not to over topdress during the playing season and bury the grass plant.

After divoting and repair work, areas where line out and scrums have been will need the levels reinstating.
I hope this answers your question.
