Hi Das
We just purchased a john deere, they beat their competitors hands down.
I wouldn't by a Chinese machine, may be cheap to buy, but resale value will also be lower - also think about dealer support.
Cheers

Hi Das,
In my opinion, the three tractor manufacturers your looking at are all excellent with very little between them and which ever one you choose will do a great job for you. In some ways in comes down to what you will exactly use it for as each individual tractor will do different jobs slightly better/worse than others.
My club looked at Kubota and Iseki, eventually buying a Kubota B3030 over its Iseki rival.
As others have mentioned, dealer support is vital (as they'll be servicing the machine).

its not a typo, just trying to emphasise how important dealer support is.
With regard to Chinese tractors, I looked at Mahindra tractors (Indian company manufactured in China). They make two kinds of tractors, one for the Asian market (which has to be cheap and therefor not reliable) and the other for American, Australian and South African markets. I believe Mahindra is the fastest growing tractor manufacturer in America. Now coming from America where consumers are very loyal to home brand products (in this case John Deere), that perhaps speaks volumes about Mahindra. I did large amounts of research including viewing American agricultural forums and reading what farmers who had bought Mahindra had posted. Responses were very positive. However, when it was my clubs money, it always came back to long term reliability (which i could not satisfy myself on) and dealer support. So I bought Kubota.
Not much help maybe, but I went through exactly the same process last year.
cheers

Something else to think about Das, a number of the smaller Massey Ferguson tractors are rebadged Iseki machines.

thanks all.
does anyone use any of these on the road. ive got to go on the road with a 6ft finishing mower. i had a iseki tf330 before, not great on the road.
it allways felt like it was going to tipover on corners.

if you feel like youre gonna tip over on the road, then lower your implement on the rear...you really only need it about a foot off the floor to transport it...as for tractor choice...keep well clear of those chinese heaps of scrap...waste of time and money...stick to the famous 2, Kubota and John Deere, i run both, and swear by both makes...reliability, running costs, resale value, and by chance should i need a spare part...ive got it straight away...for example...steering ram from John Deere...not available in UK HQ so had one over night from germany...

What about the Iseki? I have been fixing and selling all three fro the last 2o years in N Ireland the Iseki is a far stronger tractor than both the Kubota and Deere products, they both use more plastic and fibreglass Iseki uses steel, the Iseki has cast iron axles front and rear and can lift more than the others, also the warranty is better on the Iseki 2 years or 2000hrs ask Deere or Kubota whats covered for the full two years (especially the second year). I used to be a kubota service manager and Iseki make the engines this isn't always the case with Deere who use yamar engines.

hi inula2k
iseki not out of running. cost 15% more than rest. iam a little jaded with iseki we had a old tf330 lots of problems it was second hand, only 850 hours 5 or 6 years old. think it had been abused in former life. oil leaks hydro and engine, rings needed doing, hydro box blowup, diff lock not working, lighting blowing fuses ect ect. i did say when we got it, not to, but overruled.

Inula2k...your facts are incorrect...Kubota build their own engines...and always have done...Kubota have been in the market far longer than Iseki...John Deere DID use Yanmar as my 4600 is a yanmar engine, they now use their own engines....and for smaller tractors have used Mitsubishi engines....both my Kubota and JD have cast front axles...so i dont know what tractors youre looking at......lift capacity is in relation to the size of the tractor...my 4600 lifts more than the equivalent horsepowered Iseki...and as for warranty...my Kubota has full 3 year warranty......and so what if manufcaturerers use plastic body parts....we had an Iseki 538 tractor, fantastic machine...little 40 horse turbo,ed lump....but when it got crushed by a fallen oak bough...it took nearly 6 months for tinwork to arrive..i can get a part from Germany overnight for my JD,s and 48hrs for my Kubota...the other thing that let Iseki down IMO...was the gearboxes on 530...538...and 545..terrible, we had probs with all 3 tractors on the gearboxes...

Hi Das
We have just purchased a new 4720 John Deere. I have to say that notghing else touches these machines in terms of weight to power output....a compact tractor with 60hp plus output.
We looked at other makes, namely New Holland and Kubota, and I have to say I wasnt impressed, namely operator comfort and general build.
The thing that made the deal for us was the dealer back up. Having spent the day at Langer with JD, and seeing their parts service first hand, I knew it was the machine for us, as ticky says, 96% of parts on next day delivery, the remainder 4% on 48hour, and the option to order online via the JDParts web page..not many manufacturers can offer that
Other things to consider were that no other manufacturer could offer us a compactor tractor, with the same Hp and still offer options such as a Mid Mount Deck and handy features such as the Automotive Upgrade Pack.
Our present contractor runs a 08 plate 4000 series Massey. I have heard roumours that this machine is an Iseki underneath, and I have to say, it is the biggest pile of rubbish ever - Noisey, Uncomfortable to drive and suffers from Unreliable electronics....
Cheers

JOH..youre not far wrong, the smaller Masseys were Iseki rebadged machines, like the 1250 etc...the next generation of Masseys are actually Landini....cos i used to drive a MF 2210 which is definately Landini..back around 2000 the larger 4200 series were proper Masseys...built in France, and the newer 5400 series are masseys...i must say im surprised you didnt find the Kubota a nice machine to drive...what model did you demo..ive grown up on Kubota and i love them...i now own a M9540 95horsepower, and it is a fantastic machine...my friend is an agric contractor running a fleet of JD from 35hp to 330hp and he said he was impressed with my tractor when he had a go in it...

Hi Ticky
We didnt actually get the Kubota or New Hollands on site to try. The company I work for, runs several other contracts which use both machines and we based our decisions on that.
We were also impressed that our JD rep was only to happy to get equipment to us, and leave it to try, rather than being invited to a demo in a sales yard, or only have a few hours with the machine....part of buying the machine is making sure it fits around your site and does what you want it to.
We discounted New Holland quiet early on, as they couldnt specifiy a compact with a high enough Hp output and with a mid mount deck. Also being in Leicestershire means were best placed for product support with JD.
The Massey our contractor uses is a 3645, not very impressed!
Cheers

ISEKI tractors are quality machines however i would personaly go for john deere tractors as they provide better service to yourself and they will provide a good service from your john deere dealer
