Hello everyone. Afte some advice. I've been approached to draw up a manitenance plan for an 18 hole pitch and putt golf course. As a starting point has anybody got a figure in mind, taking into account the usual maintence regime of greens, tees, approaches, sand for bunkers etc.... Would be much obliged !!!! Cheers, P.J.

Hi mate,

How long is a piece of string springs to mind.

How big are the greens? How big are the tees? What's the average length of the holes? How many bunkers? What soil type? What grass species off the green? What irrigation available? What equipment is available and how old is it? How many punters use the course? What's the price of a round?

To give you a guide - an average members-type 18 hole full-sized course will probably cost £40k on materials \ consumables, with four staff plus a casual - wage bill another 100k. Costs of a higher-end type members club would probably be double.

A little more info and I'm sure people who know far more about golf than I do will give you some more accurate answers.

PJ - as I think others have intimated, you are not asking the right questions. Frankly if you are investing money or reputation on the outcome I suggest you need to clearly identify the objectives and standards that you wish to achieve.

Thanks everybody. Area size 7.5 Ha. Greens are postage stamp, and in a poor state. Not sure if new owners are going to invest. So far have worked on lease of equipment to maintain, materials, and wages. Have taken into consideration maintaining to current standard, and improving, but in this day and age with recession in mind will they pay ??????
