Message Board - Natural Turf: unsure as usual

first off is it true that compaction spreads disease? The reason i ask is because my boss wants the pitch rolled which is no problem but the pitch at the moment has fusarium on it and have been dubious about spraying as the warmer weather is around the corner. Not 100% sure what is the best way around to do things as i want to get it right thats why i thought i'd ask the experts...

Grass is always greener on the otherside i think that would be my side of course

I wouldn't imagine that rolling spreads the thatch fungi, but poor cultural practices can promote infection/spread of disease. Ultimately, you should go with what your boss says, but there is no harm in discussing the issue and suggesting any alternative ideas that you bring to the table.

The spores can be spread by machinery but that does not neccesarily mean that the disease will spread. Personally I'd bung a liquid iron on with a spot of liquid feed (very light) and then crack on with the rolling the following day while the ground conditions are right - though without having seen the square it's a bit difficult.

I hope rolling doesn't spread anything! I've just spent 3 days doing some psr and I had it sprayed with a moss killer 8 days ago.

What do I do? I just cut the grass.

Answers may possibly be more accurate if we knew what sort of pitch is being rolled?
