Deep aeration

Looking for a winter pitch deep aerator. Should I go for a verti-drain type machine or a Tremor Earthquake?
I would be interested in peoples views.

deep aeration

i actually own a earthquake and a medium sized verti drain. if you are after the deepest possible aeration i would go for the biggest possible verti drain. the earth quake is great for aeration during the season. but for renovation i still hire a big big verti drain

There is a train of thought that the earthquake machine may actually do more harm than good unless used in optimum conditions. The vibrating Share is not a new idea (contrary to popular opinion) - think about it though - it is likely that the action of vibrations could, in some soils, especially if enough moisture is present, actually increase compaction. This will be especially true then in winter.

I'm sure, however, that there will be lots of anecdotal evidence from people who swear by the machine.

I would always opt for the vertidrain, although it is also important to only use this machine in optimum conditions where possible!
