Message Board - Football: End of season renovations

End of season renovations,

right well our home fixture list finishes next weekend which gives me plenty of time to do work to the pitch outside my full time job as a greenkeeper now and the parish council have asked for prices on end of season renovations.

last season we have to have a lot of screened top soil etc to fix the really bad areas and this year isnt going to be as bad as they is a good grass coverage apart from on touchlines (where linesmen run) and the goal mouths and centre circle. Last season we have a budget of £500 which isnt great but as its a pub team its better than nothing.

does anyone have any contacts in cambridgeshire area that could quote me on screened topsoil and seed at all please????

last season we eventually got 3 tonnes of top soil and 4 x 25kg bags of football pitch grass seed but dont see us needing 3 tonnes this year as only doing the really affected areas.

Why not use the same supplier?

possibly mate but wanted to get a few quotes this year as council just did it on there own back last year and ended up with some screened top soil and some with stones which was a right pain hence why if i get few quotes and tell them to use one of them i know i have done my work......

We have purchased screened rootzone 70/30 from Mansfield Sands. Im sure they will deliver out to Cambridge.

Failing that all I know are Laffeys at Claypole, Newark - but I wouldt say this is the best for sports use.

Get the Parish Council to buy it and they can claim back the VAT.

Re renovations-Is anyone aware of a club at professional (lge 1/2 +conference) level not carrying out any end of season renovation?
Or furthermore just cutting and marking out the pitch, no seed, dressing, ferts, aeration etc etc?
