Message Board - Natural Turf: overseeding
2 Apr 2011 by Grassman2011
A football and rugby pitch that become a major part of a cricket outfield at a ground that i manage, was overseeded a week last Monday, 21st March, using a disc seeder. First signs of germination yesterday.

I was overseeding some wickets on the nursery ground today using a Blec uniseeder. I'm a bit disappointed, it seemed that the seed was going everywhere but the holes !
I'll have to go in again tomorrow for a bit more brushing and rolling, but I wanted to ask about water?, if you'll pardon the stupid question. it's supposed to chuck it down on Tuesday do you think that's to long to wait?, or should I dig out the sprinkler?. Usually I wouldn't worry, but I really pushed to get the money to hire the Blec, visualising nothing but absolute success.
Smack my pitch up

Hi,
We have overseeded some reinstatement areas, with the cold nights we haven't got anything showing as yet its been down 7 days.
It's a lot less bother with a hover!

I'm watering today instead of more psr, looks too dry to me. I overseeded a week ago and the small shallow spike holes I made before brushing the seed on are still open after 4 hours cross rolling last week. So rightly or wrongly, I'm wTeting this afternoon with the idea of rolling down line play tomorrow. But now I'm watering, it will hiss down tomorrow!
What do I do? I just cut the grass.
