Steves fungus

Found this in the middle of the cricket square. Any ideas what it is, could one eat or smoke it and is it a dig out job?
Many thanks.

Hey Vic...... If that's your cricket square, I'd get a selective herbicide out first and worry about the UFO after?

Another couple of weeks of this weather and you'll be able to sell the field to the local farmer as a sillage crop!

Who's Steve by the way?

Ah Ken, Steve is a very close friend. Never mind about that herbicide, time it's shaved down to 0.5mm no one will be any the wiser and Mr Wood did tell me that he required a spiky pitch for Sri Lanka.
Tumbleweed, you share my view.
Andy, could make a typical Uxbridge flat deck out of it in no time.
Now what about this fungus, St Georges?

I'm still trying to work out whether it is a joke..... belated April Fool or whatever! It looks more like a sea sponge!

Come on Vic, you have been part-taking on this site long enough to know that you need to give more information than a mere photo....... how is it attached? Is it attached to the ground? have you explored beneath the surface? Does it smell? does it smoke nice..... No forget that!!!!

Is it a one off? Did it blow in over the weekend? get dumped by a freak cloud? a UFO? Does it speak? ........ Hold on while I re-fill my glass!

Hang on....... I've just had a thought? Have you been to the Isle of Man recently?

Vic I'll get our IT guy at our place to have look tomorrow? He might not know too much about pc's but this subject happens to be a hobby?
Oh dear.

Ken, all I can tell you is that they have only just started coming through and have never been there before, it is not an isolated one, but a bit of a worry as it's on a length (probably safe as none of the bowlers can hit a length).

Maybe a dressing of Kaloam might help.

Andy, that would be good, perhaps you could get him to fix my pc as we experienced a power cut yesterday morning and I can no longer get on certain sites, this one has even caused a problem with a out of license message being flagged up.

Steve if you are watching, can you supply details required please?

Vic

It's Common Morel ... Morchella esculenta

From March to May in groups in gardens and parks. It's not rare.

Suitable in all recipes. Improves soups and sauces.

Also known as Groundsman's Viagra. Just dry indoors and then sprinkle onto a pint of real ale and you'll have the player's wives queueing up at the mower shed.

It'll be gone in a month or so . I'd be ... er ... getting that square cut and getting a systemic on to deal with the 'other' friends.

Thanks Pat - I think - yet you don't sound too inspiring. Perhaps my assistant could put it in one of his famous curries. Delly belly next day and no one would know.

Vic

Sorry for the lack of inspiration.

I've edited my initial post. I hope that's more to your liking ... although don't hold me to the player's wives comment.

All the best

Vic,

Our IT Guy sends you this with compliments. This one is yellow morel. So pat may be correct.

Also asked about your pc? He suggests putting 10 bob in the meter? But this is a bloke who still saves green shield stamps!!!

Cheers

Andy.

Yeah right, not so sure about your guy Andy. Now green shield stamps, that does take me back, wouldn't have thought you were that old. Going with Mum and here hundreds of books up the Cowley Road in Oxford to trade them in for a toaster. Probably been saving for a couple of years.
Those were the days when you did get owt for nowt, men were men and women, well they were still a dream!!

Think this pc has all sorts of defence devices on it and when the power went down it didn't like it.

Cheers.

Vic.
