Pre season rolling and fertilising

We have been pre season rolling for about a week now.At the weekend we spiked the square using a sarrel spiker and then added the fertiliser. It rained at the weekend and the fertiliser has nearly broken down, We used granular.

Is it best to keep off with the roller for a while whilst the fertiliser is being absorbed into the holes or not?

Opinions are sought.

rolling and fertilising

The answer to his really depends on the nature of the fertiliser you used, however, personally I would keep well off until you are sure the fertiliser is broken down sufficently. If it has had plenty of ain you should be fine.

Perhaps next year you should time your fertiliser application differently so that it does no correspond with heavy traffic on the square. Alturnatively you could try using soluble fertilisers and spraying them on.
