Message Board - Website Feedback: Who's problem is it?
11 Apr 2011 by mario
Unsure whether this is a problem with my equipment or not.
When I click in the message box to reply to a current thread the screen blackens as you can see in the two photos.
Any thoughts Mr. Web Monkey?!

The blackened screen -
I know no boundaries.

Very strange Mario. Doesn't happen for me (on that specific thread, or any other) using either IE or Firefox.
Have you tried restarting your browser?
What version of IE are you using?

Am typing this through a blackened screen. Excuse mistakes!!
Where do I find the version of Internet Explorer? Sorry to be thick!
I know no boundaries.

Go to the menu help - and choose "about IE"
It will be version 6, 7, 8 or 9. Probably.
Does the screen darken when you click in the reply to text box to enter text?
If it is easier, please email me al@pitchcare.com, and we can sort out via email

If you've just upgraded to IE9 (via windows update) then you'll see some very odd happenings. A heck of a lot of websites are broken in that version of IE (including anything based on Wordpress).
Of course there's no bounce, bend your back and put some bloody effort in.

This is now fixed. I needed to upgrade our Lightbox, Scriptaculous and JS Prototype libraries to the latest versions. IE9 just didn't like the old ones

Tssk! Fancy not knowing that Al. And while you are at it makes sure the splodge flange backserver has been updated to version 232.7 and the turn1p has been rebooted.
Of course the grass looks good. The sun is shining.

Al,
Can you give the fuse box a wiggle wile your at it please.
When i click on the GSB link to your left, it comes up no valid address?
Suggest a tap on the Lightbox, Scriptaculous and JS Prototype libraries to the latest versions. IE9 might help?
Failing that may i suggest checking that the p%s take valves may need Replacing? We have real problems with these.
Many thanks
Andy.

haha, very funny :)
I have rattled my spanner, but the GSB advert isn't budging.
I've escalated the problem to a wiser engineer. Well, to Peter anyway!

I hope you dont mean Pitchcare Peter!!!!
A plain computer illeterate guy rings tech support to report that
his computer is faulty.
Tech: What's the problem?
User: There is smoke coming out of the power supply.
Tech: You'll need a new power supply.
User: No, I don't! I just need to change the startup files.
Tech: Sir, the power supply is faulty. You'll need to replace it.
User: No way! Someone told me that I just needed to change the startup
and it will fix the problem! All I need is for you to tell me the
command.
10 minutes later, the User is still adamant that he is right. The tech
is frustrated and fed up.
Tech: Sorry, Sir. We don't normally tell our customers this, but there
is an undocumented DOS command that will fix the problem.
User: I knew it!
Tech: Just add the line LOAD <http://nosmoke.com/> NOSMOKE.COM at the
end of the CONFIG.SYS.
Letme know how it goes.
10 minutes later.
User: It didn't work. The power supply is still smoking.
Tech: Well, what version of DOS are you using?
User: MS-DOS 6.22.
Tech: That's your problem there. That version of DOS didn't come with
NOSMOKE. Contact Microsoft and ask them for a patch that will give you
the file. Let me know how it goes.
1 hour later.
User: I need a new power supply.
Tech: How did you come to that conclusion?
User: Well, I rang Microsoft and told him about what you said, and he
started asking questions about the make of power supply.
Tech: Then what did he say?
User: He told me that my power supply isn't compatible with NOSMOKE.

I find that if you adjust the M-Plate Philip Wolds, that generally fixes most problems. Or you could re-align the laughting shaft where it joins into the giggling pin.
That will"£"$%£££<<<..;p
Oh, bugger.
The answer is None more black.
