Finally some aeration on the green. For those who don't know the saga, back in December 2010 five clubs agreed to purchase an Aer-Aid and share the equipment. The old company had guaranteed delivery in 6 weeks from order placement. As most folk know Sisis became part of Howardson Ltd (Dennis) on Jan 4. As you can imagine a number of issues have arisen and to cut a very long storey short we should have taken delivery of our new machine last week. Regretfully the carrier damaged the machine and it has to be re-built. Ian Howard of Sisis/Howardson Ltd agreed to let us use the demo machine until ours is ready again. This was delivered on Tuesday this week and I managed to break it. Jason from Sisis arrived this morning as did the spares and I'm pleased to say the machine is up and running.
The machine created considerable disturbance to the playing surface but after 4 run's with the turf iron it playable again. Just as well as we open on Saturday. Of note is the significant reduction in worm castes. Don't know if this is due to the recent dry weather or if the little B's don't like our new machine. Hope it's the latter. Over the last two day's I have put 20,000ltr of water on the green and this normally bring the worms up?
If anyone has used the Arrow Aer-Aid or Javalin I would be interested to know what signifficant changes have occured on your greens?

I use the tractor mounted aer-aid, its a cracking bit of kit, much undervalued, I did 10 greens on a golf course yesterday in dry old Hampshire with no surface disturbance whatsoever, It just needs Dennis to beef it up a bit,

Thanks for the responce Cowman. You say you have no disturbace, my theory is that once I get some decent root growth (currently only 2/3") I too should have minimum disturbace?
