I see a charterhouse 804 seeder is for sale on the used machinery board. Can the 804 be used for end of seasons renovation on a very well wornrugby pitch and a football pitch ?We have a 35hp tractor.

Hi amateur, why not hire in a disc seeder I think you'll get better results and its a cheaper.

Hi amateur, last night I listed our SISIS Tilth n Seed on eBay.
We don't own a tractor with 3-point linkage and for that reason it won't get any use during the playing season so can't justify keeping it. We only have a football pitch to look after.
It was purchased (on eBay) in October and has twice been used to overseed to good effect... just had enough rainfall following operation!

We hire every year.but the problem being sometimes we have to re seed in August if we have a dry summer. It would help to have our own seeder. If I can justify the cost.

Hi Amateur.
If you are interested in saving a lot of money and not shy of a little graft or have access to good cheap (volunteer) labour, then can I suggest that you use a decent pedestrian fertilizer spreader to sow your seeds. Make sure you have made a good seed bed with plenty of holes (sorell roller?) sow your seeds then a flash of top dressing and drag brush to finish and aid your levels. Works for me, admitedly on a 12 track cricket square but I do it on my own. A larger surface would obviously be quicker with more helpers. It all depends on what you want to pay at the end of the day.
Presentation is the name of the game.

Thanks for the advice but we are seeding roughly two and a half winter pitches. Its just we put down our seed when we hire the seeder and then hope it rains.Maybe if we had our own seeder we could wait for the rain.
