Andrew
there are a few machinery suppliers nearby why dont you try and get the club to see if they can do some sort of deal? it might involve some advertisement or something but you never know until you ask.
best of luck

ha ha i wish barry
iam just trying to help out those with less money than other people any help would be good
trying to get eather a verti drainer or a holo time core machine then hopefully a verti cutter
iam mabie getting a lend of a triple so i can cut the pitch been very good so far the turn out of people willing to give there stuff to a fellow greenkeeper/groundsman but always the proplem of the lack of money
Why do you not get the club to charge a fee for using the facility, even if it only one pound per person per week, most rugby clubs have in excess of 150 plus people ( juniors, youth and seniors) using the the pitches every week, This fee would soon accumulate to some decent money over the season. 150 x 4 = £600 a month.
That kind of investment straight back into the pitches would make a lot of difference, why do clubs, not face up to reality and see that there is a cost for maintaining pitches, and should be expected to pay something, Players do not hesitate in paying £2.50 - 3.00 for a pint , in some cases several pints.
Lets get some commitment from the end user, in most cases rugby clubs subs are cheap, it about time we saw a shift into putting something back.
Also why not dedicate some functions towards raising funds for grounds maintenance costs, why should we constantly hear the same old story , we have no money !
Ask yourselves the question would you be encouraged to play rugby on a poorly presented / muddy pitch, which may be uneven and not fit for purpose?
I am sorry but this sounds a bit soppy. Do these players play fir nothing? Does it have a committee? If so, does this committee think they can run a club without any equipment?
To expect people to give you for nothing equipment that, if it is in working order is worth hundreds if not thousands of pounds, is quite frankly ludicrous.
I would love to be required equipment fir nothing, it doesn't happen. I think the club needs to get real.
What do I do? I just cut the grass.
I meant to say, I would love to get required equipment for nothing. These fingers weren't made for small iPhone keyboards!
What do I do? I just cut the grass.

your totlay right cranfield i should inquire about that all i got told was there was no money for equipment unless it was loaned ive been quite happy so far with the help ive been givein by the local golf clubs there happy to give me a lend of sum of the stuff as long as there not useing it.
your right about putting sumthing back we should all try our best to help those less cappibile of getting there surface up to a standard in which they can play on every week this is why iam useing all my time to help out as much as i can and yea thats for free
its redulise the state of sport these days there is clubs all over the country like this in the same poision
iam really shocked sport is a joke to most people but ask ur self if these kids were running about causing trouble drinking n what ever else ill bet there would be money to clean up this mess
its an amtuar rugby club so iam just thinking that yea proplay do play for nothing n turn up for fun n proplay to keep them out of trouble
well with help from other people iam hopeing by setting a good exampile with greenkeepers n groundsman a like to help out each other with lending each other equipment to improve all this proplems
