Message Board - Cricket: Granular treatment for weeds on a cricket square?

15 May 2011 by marcuscoates

Hi apart from your standard weed and feed is there another granular type of weed killer. I've had a quick look through previous posts but most seem to be liquid form. I have had a few daisy's and dandelions decide to germinate on the square and would like to get them under control.

Verdone extra is meant to get rid of those. You can get it from any decent garden centre.
I use it to spot spray with a small one litre hand sprayer on the square. But be careful not to exceed the dosage or it will kill the grass as well.

What do I do? I just cut the grass.

I use Elliot's feed weed and moss killer 2 or 3 times a summer and I only find a couple of weeds per summer on the square. I grub those out B T W.

If the square is not infested then buy a "Daisy Grubber" and do it manually!!
The above stuff is good though and have used it now for 12 seasons.
