I know this sounds obviouse But how do you get the problem. And more important how do you solve it . Also what problems are associated with it.

Like most obvious questions they need asking if you don't know the answer! Unfortunately as with many other obvious questions the answers are not so obvious.
Much uneven bounce is caused by 'layering', or the use of different loams over the years. Because different loams have different binding and rebound characteristics, the differences in the layers tend to absorb the ball bounce to a far greater extent than if the whole profile is made of a consistent material.
The only way to establish what the reasons are for your problems are to take samples through the profile and inspect what it looks like. If you need more assistance email me at info@gsbloams.co.uk, there is always an answer to every obvious question.
Good Luck

There's no quick solution. We had a terrible square four years ago where the ball would either shoot along the ground or jump up off a length. Most of the solution is to do the right things at the right time and to do a thorough job at the end of the season using good quality loam to fill holes left by a good deep spiking operation (at least 4 inches). In that way the good soil starts replacing the bad, silty stuff. It took three years of gradual improvement to the point where our square is now a batsman's paradise and bowlers are complaining they can't get anyone out. You can't win!
PS: the IoG groundsman's courses are excellent.
