Line Marking

Does anyone know how many times a 15litre drum of pitchmarker C will mark out a football pitch as i am trying to work out the increase in costs from moving from a wheel marker to a spray marker - thanks

2.5

I have been reliably informed by the supplier, that 1 x 15 litre drum would mark about 2.5 football pitches

Pitchmarker C

I buy this in Fleet's multifill tanks, 700 litres a time. It costs about £1.10 per litre this way. I usually dilute it at 4:1 (water:C), so in my Kombi marker I use 5 litres of C in 25 litres of mix. This marks about 1300 metres (of course this depends on how fast you push the marker).

With this method 1 litre at £1.10 does 260 metres. A standard football pitch is around 700 metres so using approximately 2.7 litres, therefore costing about £3 per pitch. Your 15 litre drum would do almost 5.5 pitches.

I used to use Pitchmarker B in my Kombi marker but I found that using C was a little more economic and is a nicer material to use as it doesn't seperate from water so readily when left stored. It is also more rainfast than B.

Of the spray markers I've used I think Fleet's Kombi marker is the best both in design and operation. However it is not as robust as a wheel transfer marker and I'm not convinced it will have anywhere near as long a life span.

Spray Markers

I should add that one of the disadvantages of a spraymarker is that you can't very easily mark the corner arcs on a football pitch, or discus circles for example. You must remove the spray nozzle and do it by hand.

I only mark rugby so it doesn't matter!
