HELP!

We are hiring a 2k roller this weekend as ours is away being repaired!

A few people that arranged the hire are now considering hiring a 10k roller a day thinking it will flatten the sqaure!

What are the fors and againsts in using this 10k roller

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

If by K you mean tonne the nfor gods sake do not use the 10 k.
Rollers do not flatten turf. They compact and consolidate what is already there, so if you have low spots they will become lower and the high spots will become harder.
2 ton maximum and use it carefully in the right conditions.

Of course the grass looks good. The sun is shining.

rollers

Exacctly. Consolidation is the game not destruction. If we followed this idea further we would hire a 30 ton roller and be done with it. Ideally you should build upto this 2 ton roller in stages in the correct conditions for rolling.

Rolling

You have been given some sound advice. If you want to eradicate high spots on cricket squares, the Koro machine is the ideal tool to use.

This is a autumn preperation job though, research it thouroughly. There has been some good articles about the benefits of Koro work on this website.

Rolling

Go to Magazine/cricket and read 'Cricket in Spring' and 'Get rid of Moss, Keep Rolling'. These sum up why and how to roll to get the best results.
