which top dressing for cricket

can anyone help with advice on top dressing for a cricket square,(for next years autumn repairs) how do I find what is compatable to the excisting loam, is there a test I can do to prove compatability.
Also what is the maximum amount I can apply per square yard/bags per 22yard strip after solid spiking I currently apply 4x25k bags per wicket but hear stories of groundsmen using 12 bags per wicket,is it safe to use that sort of quantity I`m very wary of hollow tineing as my ground has a high water table

Top dressing

To test compatability of cricket loams you can do
what is called a motty test.if you contact the iog
they will supply the relevent info.as regards quantity, a minimum of 4 pounds/sq yd or 2kg/sqm would be suitable.dont understand why you want to hollow tine. i would only ever consider this if i had soil problems and needed to carry out a programme of soil exchange.if no problem with soil and profiles ie compatability you should be solid tining.Hollow tine as a last resort if problems are evident.
