Using a correct spiker ?

Our cricket club have bought a 2nd hand Sisis Autoturfman which we intend to use for aerating our cricket table this autumn .I've since been told that this machine could be considered unsuitable for the job as it is not a cam action machine and unwanted "heave" could occur from the tine action .
I'd like some other opinions to the above .

spiker

ideally these days cam action spikers are recomended. However they are very dear to buy. Day or weekend hire might be affordable at £80-110 a time.

However the sisis can be used, as can the pattison which we have. The only problem is that as the tines dont go straight in and out there is some eliment of lifting as the tines come out. Thats never been too much of a problem when i've used them and cutting with the normal mower should flatten down any lumps. I have heard of drum spikers peeling off the turf but havent seen that, assume that there must be a real lack of root or a severe laver or root sheer probelm for that to happen.

Spiker

Use the spiker on the out field first if the tines are dirty and or rusty. Only go on the square when the tines are nice and clean ,this will reduce heave.

Using correct spiker

The SISIS Auto-Turfman has been in production for more than 40 years and hundreds of cricket clubs use them regularly, without problem.
Contrary to the opinion above, the tines do enter vertically and are also withdrawn vertically due to the "spring" action design.
The Auto-Turfman is a dependable, robust, low-maintenance, well-priced aerator.

Sisis Turfman

Keith may be a bit biassed (!) but he's right. We have sold a couple to small golf clubs and they are fine even for the greens.

The biggest problem with Sisis equipment is that they are built so solidly that they never die - not good for me, a Sisis dealer , still supplying spares for 15-year-old machines.

In this region, Qatar is getting ready for the "Asian Games" and looks like they will be heavily pushing Sisis for a lot of the kit.
