See the LTA comments on following site regarding grass.
Which says; Whilst grass remains a very popular surface, representing approximately twenty per cent of all club courts across the country, the number of natural turf surfaces is declining, as many clubs choose to convert courts to more practical surfaces, in order to maximise the amount of play possible throughout the year.
A lot of clubs are keen to retain their grass courts, and with them, a part of their tradition. But for many others, particularly smaller clubs, the relatively short playing season is too small a return for the necessary investment of the time and cost of year-round maintenance....
The rating of the courts is usually measured by the quality performance standards PQS that measure the performance of a grass court, its condition, ball bounce, grass cover and many more characteristics.
However the main governing factors that dictate the quality of the courts are 1, The resources available , Materials and machinery to do the job. 2 the knowledge and expertise of the grounds man and 3 the time to establish quality courts.

hi anthony i'm from bromley in kent, i came up to your club last year for a seminar. i thought i would ask the question of standards as my courts are of a good club standard with the kent mens team using them for practice for county week.kent won by the way.it would be nice to take them up to the next level.
