Prevention of Vandalism

Im a first year student in Sportsturf and I am doing an assignment on this topic. I was looking for some ideas which you have employed to reduce and prevent this headache in our industry? Your ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Vandalism

There are a number of methods employed at sports facilities around the country. These range from Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) whether fake or real, as is is a visual deterent to the would-be vandal.

Anti-climb paint on fences and railing to stop the little yobs climbing over and into the facility (it sticks like bugger and is a real pain to wash off).

Signage pointing out that CCTV is active, and that anyone caught will be prosocuted, plus some facilities employ security companies to make spot checks on the site out of office hours.

Most facilities are alarmed in some way too, as theft is just as big a problem as vandalism.

General vandalism of the playing surface can be harder to prevent. Vandalism (damage) by animals is easier to remedy usually than vandalism done by humans.

Hope this has given you some ideas, and good luck with your assignment.
