Message Board - Cricket: Seed Mix - Outfield

13 Dec 2011 by Paul Sadler

Looking for advice on type of seed mix for general outfield of cricket pitch. We have gone for I would say the agricultural method of pitch construction - spray / harrow / levelling (with farm machinery. So any grass outside the future "play area" is a right mixture of former cow pasture field (ie. course grasses and weeds) - will this become an eventual problem - i am assuming so.

Paul, have a look for seed companies on this site, then call them and ask for them to send a rep around to see you. He will be able to see what you have, judge what your site needs and then make an informed recommendation.
If finance is a problem ask a few to come around as the price of seed can vary hugely from different suppliers.
Without understanding the make up of your soil and site it is difficult to make an informed decision.

Have picked up nice quote. Would I be right in thinking that large Blec seeder would be machine to do the work?
