Anyone going to the seminar/demo day at Ealing Cricket Club? I'm talking and quite looking forward to seeing what was my place of work for 4 years in the 80's

There's a great pub within 50 yards and the underground is 150yards away Paul. Looking forward to the day as the only time I've seen Ealing CC is in November with fireworks going off!
Regards
Greg

At least 300 yards I'm willing to bet Greg. Are you referring to the Wheatsheaf? I used to keep that pub going single handed between 1986 and 1990.

Speaking of pubs, do you ever get into the Eight Bells near your place, Peter?
15 Feb 2012 by Rob Bradshaw
Have to agree with you barry was a very interesting talk.
Thanks to david and gareth for setting up todays event, and also a big thankyou to greg, dean, andy and peter for some excellent presentations.
I must say tho on the booze front that I can reveal peter didn't have a beer he had a pint of orange squash.
Great day though and I'm sure everybody thought it was succesfull.
Time is 7.10pm and I'm nearly home well worth the journey
All the best to ealing cc for the season and to all you other groundsman that attended today.
Kind regards

16 Feb 2012 by Mike
Ha!! I'll be sure to tell Sue (the landlady), and Michelle (bar manager and bosses daughter!). Sue used to run my local, about 1/2 a mile from my house, and the vodka didn't have much punch to it back then if I recall
16 Feb 2012 by petermarkcraig
Oh don't tell Sue that plllease!
Of course the grass looks good. The sun is shining.

Thanks to David for inviting me to talk and to Gareth for hosting the event with aplomb. Having your cricket square disected and analysed in front of a live audience must have been very difficult. ................but the outcome must have been pleasing.
Of course the grass looks good. The sun is shining.

Yeah it was a good day, with Very interesting speakers. Gregs was spot on, Andy you'll never make a fertiliser rep!!! And Peter it was nice to put a name to a face, hopefully we will catch up again soon.
Cheers Dave and Gareth, networking is definitely the way forward, Gareth I will be calling in for a coffee when I'm in that neck of the woods again.
Cheers
Deano

Thanks all. It was really got to put some faces to names, catch up with old acquaintances (my old dep was there) and meet new guys. These seminars are becoming more poplar which is a great thing. I find you always take one or two things away with you which ultimately makes you a better turf manager.
Regards
Greg
P.S. still want to know what you cricket guys do in the winter:)

Thanks to Peter, Dean, Greg and Andy Clarke for keeping the delegates informed and amused throughout the day and for Gareth being such a splendid host, as well as the club which offered such an appropriate setting for such an event.
For those who wanted to but were unable to attend, and those that were too far away to do so, there will be a full report on the day's talks and events coming up once everything has been collated. If other clubs would like to stage similar events around the UK and Ireland then please pm and let us know, as Greg says this more localised, less formal kind of seminar really is bringing information out to those involved in the sportsturf world and long may that continue.
