Coarse grass

I look after a considerable area of good quality fine turf, it was layed about 5 years ago and was Rolawn Advantage Turf
My problem is that I have intermitten patches of lighter coloured coarse grass
Anybody any suggestions of how to get rid of it.

Roger, employ a thatch removal programme ie scarification, verticutting, aeration and follow this up with oversowing with your prefered species. However when undertaking this ensure you scarify when you have 30 days good growing conditions as the sward will have to recovery from this operation.

coarse grass.

Roger.
I would suggest that it is Yorkshire Fog.
If so you will find that the only way to shift it is to plug out, or total weedkill and overseed.
Be careful with the selection of weedkiller you make.

coarse grass

David, thanks for yor advice, I do feel that scarifying heavily, will not get rid of the roots of this coarse grass and will reappear again next year, and I think cutting out or killing off would be the only way.
There are so many patches, that I think I may re-turf or re-seed the whole lawn. Which would you suggest.
It is the area of a golf green. Thanks for your help

Above.

Is the area a constructed Green as such or moulded out of the existing Landscape /Soils?
