"It needs some of that stuff on it what makes the drains work"

Just thought I'd say hello. I'm not a groundsman meself but I help out our groundsman at Ashton Town. Biggest problem is, tho' he takes excellent care of the pitch, I can't get him to take care of what takes care of the pitch i.e. the grass machinery. Mainly a Ransome Mastiff and an Allett T36 (apparently, only a few of these were made)

Ticky supports British farmers...!!

normally Mastiffs are a good solid workhorse, they have done a good turn to many many sportsgrounds up and down the country, and still are..Allett are a good machine too, my mate has two Regals, which im guessing are the modern version of your T36, and i must admit with a roller seat they produce a nice finish to a football pitch, all in all both machines are very popular...

Cheers ticky. I've been looking at the Regal on Alletts website and can't help feeling a bit dubious about it. This T36 has a 17 h.p. Kohler engine fitted to it whereas the Regal's is only 11 h.p.. I can't help but wonder if it's really up to it.

Amongst other things, you should consider the weight of your machines. A 36" Mastiff weighs around 350kg.

If your looking for replacements, I understand a lot of football clubs have gone for the Dennis G860, a 34" mower which weighs 166kg. It is a cassette machine so you can swop the cylinder for tools such as scarifiers, brushes etc.. I have one, and although I don't like the balance of it (it's hard to lift the front up to turn at the end of a run) it's generally a good machine - and Dennis are a good company.

The Dennis site is on the right of this page, Ransomes is at the top.

What about a free trial of that buffallo Robbo! March to September should just about be enough time for me to make my mind up.
