Pitchcare: Cut the stress of Turf Management 29th April 2008
Sales and Enquiries +44 (0)1902 824392
Welcome to the April Newsletter
Dave Saltman
Well, I'm pleased we have got through the initial stages of updating the Pitchcare website without too many hiccoughs. The Home Page has been well received by members and we will be working our way through the rest of the site over the next month or so.

As ever, members' comments are welcomed and appreciated.

Talking of members, the number of people signing up to the site continues to grow. Over 2000 new members (2022 to be exact) since the beginning of the year.

New members are important - they bring fresh ideas, they add to the wealth of expertise and knowledge readily available, and help make the Pitchcare site the most widely used, freely accessible information resource in the sports turf industry.

Members helping and advising one another was one of our key aims from the outset, and I am delighted it is working so well.

Regards
Dave Saltman

Cut the Stress of Turf Management
Pre Stress Conditioning
Turf managers are under constant pressure to create the best possible playing surfaces. But it’s not just groundsmen and greenkeepers who will feel the heat this summer – your turf can be suffering from stress too.

Pre-stress conditioning can help prepare turf grass for extreme conditions before they hit. A programme which includes an application of Primo MAXX plant growth regulator prior to the onset of stresses – such as hot weather, drought, disease and heavy wear - can strengthen the turf, and allow it to withstand pressure more effectively.

Physiological changes within Primo treated turf makes it more resistant to stress conditions. Plants have bigger root systems and increased lateral stems, making them better able to draw moisture and nutrients and withstand excess wear and tear. They also have more storage capacity for food reserves that can be used during periods of stress.

Furthermore, trials have shown Primo treated turf has an increased concentration of chlorophyll – making it look healthier and work more efficiently. The level of cytokinins in the treated leaves ensures plants stay greener, whilst enhanced ABA levels aid the plant manage water use more effectively.

The science has proven what many groundsmen and greenkeepers already know – Primo MAXX can help cut the stress of turf management this summer.
