| Welcome to our April Newsletter |
The driest March on record has been followed by one of the driest Aprils I can remember, with no forecast of any significant rain to come in the near future.
It was also very dry last April, but the main difference is the fact that temperatures this year are much higher which, at least, has encouraged some good grass growth.
The lack of rain means extra care needs to be taken when applying fertilisers. Granulars, in particular, can cause burning if not watered in immediately after application. Anyone without irrigation will be better off using liquid feeds.
There's a busy month ahead for everybody connected with our industry - the summer sports staff are just getting into full swing, whilst the winter sports teams are gearing up for their most important renovations. A little bit of moisture at the right time will, I'm sure, be much appreciated. Time for the rain dance!
Good luck,
Dave Saltman |

| New Micro-Spray in demand |
With many pedestrian sprayers now in use across several industries including professional turf care, university grounds maintenance, estate maintenance and sports fields, the Martin Lishman Micro-Spray is proving to be a real success within the turf care sector.
The Micro-Spray 50, with a 50 litre tank will fit through most tennis court and bowling green gates, and the 70 litre version is designed to suit landscapers and estates maintenance work. The largest Micro-Spray 120 is ideal for golf course and sports field contractors who need to cover larger areas. All versions have large pneumatic tyres to ensure a wider footprint, even with the largest tank size.
The Micro-Spray heavy-duty differential drive unit makes it suitable for all terrains and all physiques. Operators can walk behind or in front at their own speed and adjust the pump pressure to suit. The speed is maintained irrespective of terrain or tank weight and the motor brakes automatically if the power is cut or the trigger switch in the integrated control handle is released.
In trials conducted recently, the Micro-Spray 50 ran continuously with full tank capacity and spraying from a full 2 metre boom, on a rough, uneven terrain for approximately 4 hours. In normal operation, considering downtime and re-fills, 6 hours would be easily obtainable.
The Micro-Spray range comes as standard with a 2 or 3 metre independent-section boom complete with break-backs and individual nozzle shut-offs. A hand lance is also available as an optional extra.
