| Welcome to our December Newsletter |
2009 will certainly go down as a very difficult year for many in our Industry, with the recession having an impact on even the largest of our companies. Hopefully, things will improve over the coming year, but it is my belief that it will be a slow rather than speedy recovery.
The last twelve months have seen much debate on the future of our Industry and, in particular, the prospects of their being a united organisation to champion our cause. I still hope this comes about and, as I've said on many occasions previously, Pitchcare would be delighted to be involved with whoever takes up this challenge.
Coming up in 2010. Together with some of the Industry's leading manufacturers and regulatory bodies, we will be launching a campaign to inform users of the problems and penalties of applying agricultural chemicals in amenity situations.
The campaign is called 'No More Agro', and we will be outlining the legal implications of using non-approved products, giving examples of mis-use and recommending courses of action and best practice.
As usual, we will be asking Pitchcare members to get involved in whatever way they can - by supporting the campaign and making us aware of any examples of mis-use or mis-selling of these chemicals.
My best wishes to all for a great New Year and a very healthy and enjoyable 2010.
Cheers

| After the Snow - Disease |
The snow may look pretty but, as all groundsmen and greenkeepers know, once the snow cover recedes we can expect disease infections to break out, particularly Fusarium Patch. The pathogen is frequently referred to as 'Pink Snow Mould'; a testament to its thriving in the unique microclimate under snow.
Fortunately, there is a wide range of products on the market to tackle this problem, and all are available on the Pitchcare Shop.
To improve the effectiveness and coverage of pesticide sprays, we have introduced pHassist Blush to our range of products. It is a novel spray adjuvant technology containing a combination of non-ionic components and a safe acidifier that is suitable for both ground and aerial applications. Click here for more details. |
