Dear February 2003

A busy month of preparation. The February frosts have been useful, helping to kill off some of the bugs and germs that had started to emerge as a result of the unseasonally warm January.

In the main, however, it has been a case of checking the tools and machinery, and getting the supplies on order for the spring.

Our main problem in the UK is not knowing when spring is going to arrive. It could be any time between now and the end of April. Some of the old timers will remember when we had snow in May.

That's one of the major challenges for our groundsmen and greenkeepers and why we are, quite rightly, regarded as the best in the world.
