Sensational new golf sand slitter from Blec at BTME
Blec will be exhibiting their latest creation at Harrogate Week (BTME) 22/23/24th January 2008. The new 1 metre model Sand Injector has been specifically developed to improve drainage on golf greens, fairways and tees. The company has long recognized that many golf courses with traditionally constructed soil based greens have drainage problems affecting play, especially during the winter and periods of high rainfall. Following on from the highly successful Sandmaster attachment for the Groundbreaker rotary decompactor, the new machine in 1 metre version with wheel kit can be used with compact tractors of around 40hp making it highly suitable for use on very fine turf. It is 3 point linkage mounted and PTO driven direct from the tractor unlike the Sandmaster which relies on the Groundbreaker. Surface disturbance is absolutely minimal allowing play to continue within hours of the sand slits being installed. With an ablility to work at depths of up to 20cm with slit widths of 15-20mm and 260mm spacings, the Sand Injector has the capability to inject sand at rates of 5-9 tonnes per golf green at each application. The vibrating tine system means that moist sand can be used to full depth without bridging, simultaneously decompacting and vastly improving drainage throughout the soil profile.
This new development is claimed by Blec to offer a viable alternative to a rebuild or replacement of golf greens and at a fraction of the cost with no disruption to play or lost revenue.
“Using this system we can dramatically improve the drainage performance of twenty soil based greens at far less than the cost of replacing just one green, and that includes the cost of purchasing the Sand Injector and the materials ”says John Reynolds Sales and Marketing Manager for Blec.
