Up and coming in July

Eddie Seaward will be relieved that his world showpiece event has passed with no apparent problems (apart from the usual rain interruptions). Hear what Eddie has to say and how next year`s preparations are already uppermost in his thoughts.

The World Cup has only just finished but we`re straight into the football season. Find out how some of the Premier League groundsmen are getting ready for their pre-season matches and how they have coped with the worst growing season for years.

Fresh from the successful Test match at his venue, Pete Marron will give us the lowdown on his work at Old Trafford.

Agronomist Andy Cole from PSD will be answering members questions in the Chat Room (see below).

Plus, as usual, all the latest Industry news as it happens, and a round-up from the local clubs.

Save your club hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds

Fleet (Linemarkers) are offering Pitchcare members some amazing offers on their markers and marking compounds - up to £1,400 saving! Their Pitchmarker B (in 700 or 1000 litre multifill containers) has been reduced from the normal retail price of 48p per litre to 42p per litre (save up to £60), while the Blinder marking compound (in 700 or 1000 litre multifill containers)is down from £4.00 per litre to an exclusive Pitchcare price of £2.60 per litre (saving up to £1400).

Fleet are also making available 50 ex demonstration Kombi spray markers; the machines are serviced and come with three months warranty from Fleet. All machines include knib attachment. Normal retail price is £711.27p, Pitchcare can offer these at £450.00 each! Call 01902 824392 to order.

Membership
After a record month, membership slowed considerably in June - Jubilee celebrations, the World Cup then Wimbledon have obviously been a distraction. Time to get our eyes back on the ball, so spread the news. As we always say - more members mean more expertise and more opportunities to share experiences. A problem shared on the Pitchcare site invariably results in a problem solved.

Managing your Team

A two day course, held at Manchester United FC is being run by Geoff Brereton from Elmwood College. A Certificate of Attendance will be provided for the course. It may be possible to extend it to a team-leader qualification by completing a project at work. This would then create a NEBSS Team Leader Award. Any such extension to qualification will be discussed during the two day course.

The course is to be held at Old Trafford on the 9/10th September.Cost is £250 per delegate and will include course fee and refreshments for the two days. Evening meals and overnight accommodation are not included, but a rate of £45 per night per room has been negotiated for the stay. Please contact Dave Saltman in the first instance on 01902 824392 or e-mail enquiries@pitchcare.com

A vacancy has arisen to join the ground staff at Manchester City Football Club. The successful applicant would join the Ground Maintenance team and shall report to the Head Groundsman, his deputy and the Head Groundsman of the 1st team’s training ground. A Midlands Football League Club is seeking to recruit a Senior Groundsman. Initial interest should be made, in confidence, to enquiries@pitchcare.com with details of relevant experience and qualifications.

Saltex 2002

Not long now before the Industry`s showpiece exhibition takes place at Windsor. In the lead up to the event, Pitchcare will be bringing you information on the exhibitors and details of the new products and machines going to be on show.

And, of course, Pitchcare will be there bringing you the stories as they happen. We`ve got one or two announcements planned ourselves - but we`ll tell you more about them nearer the date.

It has been a lousy start to the summer after our initial hopes following a promising March and April. The elements now appear to be against us again with seasonal temperatures well below the average. The recent rain not only playing havoc with our summer sport, but also the winter sports preparation. Pitchcare wishes you the best of luck. If you have any thoughts on how we can improve our services to you, please let us know. Thanks for your support.
