The Technical Merit Award 2003

Hello , the end is in sight for May's competition. There are only a couple of days left, so get your braincells working before midnight on Saturday, and give yourself a chance of winning our fantastic monthly prize. The Technical Merit Award 2003 in association with Tillers Turf will only take a few seconds to answer, it is simple to enter and there are excellent prizes to be won.

For every multiple choice question answered correctly, you will receive one free entry into the draw. If you choose to enter the topical issue, your answer will be read by our panel of judges, and you stand a chance of winning the Technical Merit Award 2003 and a luxury all-inclusive £2000 holiday.

A selection of May's best answers to the topical issue question will be published early in June, together with the correct answers to the multiple choice questions with a full technical explanation for each one.

The winner of the monthly prize can choose a prize from this list, from tank driving to rally driving, a tiger moth flight to a hot air balloon flight. Jack Kenneally from Kinsale in County Cork was April's Winner and he chose to receive a case of red wine.

Cricket World and Pitchcare Groundsman Awards 2003

Slough Cricket Club

1) The Competition is designed to raise the interest and awareness of Groundsmanship and to encourage and promote Groundsmen in Cricket at all levels.

2) The Competition Board, comprising of Cricket World and Pitchcare (it is anticipated that the ECB and IOG will be in partnership with the Awards later in the year) are inviting entries from players, administrators, umpires and local authorities to nominate a Ground/Groundsman for an Award. Nominations may be made for the Outstanding quality of the playing surface, General upkeep of the Ground, Longevity of Service or an 'against all odds' type of Achievement Award.

The Awards for Groundsmen, outside of the County circuit, will be judged in three categories - a) Club, b) School and c) Local Authority.

3) The Competition Board will select 8 Regional Winners from the nominated entries who will be invited to attend a Presentation, at Saltex, in September 2003. Regions are North East, North West, East/West Midlands, South West, South East, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. The overall winner will be named at the presentation.
