Welcome to the May Newsletter
Dave Saltman
It does annoy me when people try to make a crisis out of nothing. In the build up to this month's Champions League Final in Moscow, the media were doing their scaremongering best to rubbish the stadium's newly laid pitch. An uneven, rutted surface was what we were going to get for this showpiece match, according to the press.

But, as we know, this was as far from the truth as you could get. The pitch played like a dream - no divots, no pooling of water, despite the torrential rain, and a beautifully smooth surface.

No cause for complaints, then. Or so I thought, until I got a call the following morning from one of the national newspapers attempting to blame the pitch for a few players slipping and getting cramp. As diplomatically, and as expletive free as possible, I pointed out to him the error of his ways.

All that should be said is full marks to Matt Frost and his team for doing such a fantastic job.

Regards
Dave Saltman
