| Welcome to our May Newsletter |
What a great weekend for UK sport it has been, with Wentworth, Twickenham, Cardiff, Old Trafford and Wembley all hosting major events - and all receiving plaudits for their playing surfaces.
Poor old Ernie Els was still getting some stick, mainly from Peter Alliss I may add, about his changes to the layout of some holes, but there was nothing but praise for the greens staff and for the condition of the course.
Not surprisingly, because of the problems they have had of late, Wembley was being closely scrutinised by some of the 'ready and waiting' media critics. Probably much to their disappointment, the pitch played perfectly.
The signs for the future are also positive, now that the penny has dropped, and the management at the stadium have decided it might be a good idea to involve the Grounds Manager in the planning of the events programme.
Congratulations to all the grounds and greens teams involved who have proven, yet again, to be amongst the best in the world when it comes to producing top quality sports surfaces.
Good luck,
Dave Saltman |

| Pesticides Application Courses |
During the coming months we will be running a regular series of PA1/PA6 training courses in Telford and Crewe.
This qualification will allow successful candidates to apply professional pesticides using a hand held applicator, such as a knapsack. These courses will be held over two days, with a further half day (approximately 1 week later) for the actual assessment. We can accommodate a maximum of 5 candidates on each course.
You can find further information on the complete range of PA modules, and other courses, at www.groundsmantraining.co.uk.
